Hey, all! So, besides my review<\/a> of Erin McLellan’s new book, Candy Hearts<\/em>, I’m also participating in the book blitz! \u201cThis was supposed to be a party. I came to get my mind off my utter aloneness, but instead, the universe has conspired to magnify it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u201cYou\u2019re not alone. I\u2019m here.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Benji waved that comment away. \u201cYou know what I mean. The romantic ambiance is wasted on us.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

William made a surprised noise in the back of his throat. After a few seconds, he said, \u201cWhy are you alone, then? You\u2019re young and hot and nice. I\u2019d think you\u2019d have partners forming a line.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u201cSexual partners, maybe. It\u2019s a bit harder to get them to stick around.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u201cYeah. I hear you,\u201d William said softly.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Benji narrowed his eyes. \u201cAre we dishing about our sucky love lives? Because I might need some wine for that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u201cDid you bring wine?\u201d William asked.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u201cNo. Do you not have any?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u201cUnfortunately not. I was not in charge of food or drinks this weekend.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u201cWell, that blows. What are you smiling about?\u201d Benji asked.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

William schooled his expression, and Benji could have mourned. \u201cNothing. You\u2019re very intriguing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u201cAre you making fun of me?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

William sat forward in his chair. \u201cOf course not. I think I could listen to you talk for hours. Even if it\u2019s complaining about your love life. Even if it\u2019s complaining about being stuck here with me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u201cThat sounds boring too.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u201cWhat do you suggest we do, then?\u201d William asked.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u201cIt\u2019s your house.\u201d Benji said this petulantly, but with a small, ornery smile. He wanted to goad William into a reaction.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u201cI have cards.\u201d Benji brightened at that, then William said, \u201cIf you want to play Solitaire.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Benji laughed.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

William continued, \u201cYou\u2019re welcome to my nonfiction. I own Doris Kearns Goodwin\u2019s entire catalog. There might be a book of Sudoku in my office.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u201cSo you\u2019re not going to entertain me. Is that the message?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

A charged silence vibrated between them for one breath. Then two. Three.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u201cOh, sweetheart, I\u2019d do more than entertain you. If you\u2019d let me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Mini Q&A with Erin McLellan:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Book two in Erin McLellan\u2019s phenomenal So Over the Holidays <\/em>series is out on February 3 and it will feature a game of sexy Spin the Bottle, secret boyfriends, naughty toys and even naughtier lingerie combined with the magic of Valentine\u2019s Day! Candy Hearts <\/em>is already wowing readers and Erin is here to talk about the book to celebrate its release! Take it away, Erin!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Can you share with us something about the book that isn\u2019t in the blurb?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

One of the highlights of writing this book was being able to craft a tight queer friend group of people in their thirties. This friend group might not see each other all that often or even talk all the time, but they love each other and are there for each other. It was a joy to write.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Does one of the main characters hold a special place in your heart? If so, why?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Benji Holiday definitely has a special place in my heart. He has a history of allowing other people, especially romantic partners, to shape who he is rather than being his authentic self. This book is about him taking that control back. He\u2019s complicated and complex and weird. It was great fun crafting a hero worthy of him.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

What is the future for the characters? Will there be a sequel?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

I already have Book 3 in the So Over the Holiday Series planned. It is titled Bottle Rocket <\/em>and will be Rosie Holiday\u2019 (the last Holiday sibling) book. Benji and William, as well as Sasha and Perry (from Stocking Stuffers<\/em>) will make appearances. I\u2019m sure Benji, Sasha, and Rosie will have an emergency brunch at some point.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

About the author: <\/strong>Erin McLellan is the author of several contemporary romances, all of which have characters who are complex, goodhearted, and a little quirky. She likes her stories to have a sexy spark and a happily ever after. Originally from Oklahoma, she currently lives in Alaska and spends her time dreaming up love stories set in the Great Plains. She is a lover of chocolate, college sports, antiquing, Dr Pepper, and binge-worthy TV shows.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
