When I found men who fit that criteria, they would look good on paper, but weren\u2019t at all what I thought they would be like[.]&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div>What a lovely surprise!\u00a0\u00a0I\u2019m usually not a fan of romances where one character lies to the other character, but the cover was just so gorgeous and the premise so interesting that I just had to request an ARC to review.\u00a0\u00a0And, I\u2019ll readily admit, there were times where I wanted to grab Patrick by the shoulders and yell \u201cJust tell her already!\u201d, but this book (and Patrick!) is just so sweet that I\u2019m willing to forgive the deception.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Patrick is\u2026 well, Patrick is pretty much the perfect man.\u00a0\u00a0He opens doors for Renee, acts protective of her, insists on paying for meals while all the while gently supporting her without taking over her life.\u00a0\u00a0One of my favorite Patrick moments, after Renee is apologizing for misjudging Patrick:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div>Patrick raced over to her and drew her into his arms. \u201cBaby, I see your heart, I do.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Folks, I melted.\u00a0\u00a0And he&#8217;s telling the truth!\u00a0\u00a0Patrick pays attention to her moods and to Renee in general.\u00a0\u00a0When they&#8217;re together, he&#8217;s wholly focused on her.\u00a0\u00a0Now, that\u2019s not to say that Patrick is perfect himself.\u00a0\u00a0He has his own issues &#8211; family and professional &#8211; to deal with, and I felt like those issues and the ways he dealt with them fleshed him out into a real person.\u00a0\u00a0Renee is also a wonderful character &#8211; smart, accomplished, but with a tendency to want to check off her life goals like items on a list.\u00a0\u00a0It was fun to watch her realize that checking off marriage and a family weren\u2019t going to as easy as she\u2019d thought!\u00a0\u00a0I also loved Renee\u2019s family.\u00a0\u00a0It was lovely to see how well they interacted, even the sisters who were polar opposites.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>As for cons, it felt like some of the other characters, especially Renee\u2019s other prospective boyfriends, were one-dimensional.\u00a0\u00a0I also felt like the whole Julia deal wasn\u2019t truly wrapped up. \u00a0I\u2019m not sure if I\u2019m missing something from a previous book, or if it\u2019s meant to be dealt with in a later book.\u00a0\u00a0I understand Renee deciding she doesn\u2019t need an explanation for Julie\u2019s behavior, but I felt like, as a reader, I wanted it. \u00a0I also wondered about what exactly was on Renee\u2019s mysterious list.\u00a0\u00a0Though I can guess from the people she dates, the list itself is never explicitly written out in the book.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>At heart, this is a sweetly romantic book about not making judgements based on a first impression, about forgiveness, and about love.\u00a0\u00a0Definitely recommended if you\u2019re looking for something cozy and sweet to curl up with!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"border-top-left-radius: 2px;
