\"MostLet’s pretend I actually did a Most Anticipated post for July (because I didn’t). June was… well, a crazy month, as evidenced by the unbelievable amount of books coming out. July was a bit slower, and in August is definitely the calm before all the Christmas books start hitting in September. I’ve been reading a lot more scifi lately, which this list definitely reflects, and while romance is still my true love, there’s nothing that hits quite like a scifi romance, either.<\/p>\n

Here’s my list of ten books I’m looking forward in August!<\/p>\n

\n

Distant Gardens anthology<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>(August 1)<\/h4>\n

The Dating Dare – Jayci Lee<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(August 3)<\/h4>\n

Jayci Lee, author of A Sweet Mess<\/i>, returns with The Dating Dare<\/i>\u2014her next witty, chemistry-filled romantic comedy.<\/b><\/p>\n

Tara Park doesn\u2019t do serious relationships. Neither does she hop into bed with virtual strangers. Especially when that particular stranger is her best friend\u2019s new brother-in-law. It isn\u2019t an easy decision, though. Seth Kim is temptation personified. His unreasonably handsome looks and charming personality makes him easy on the eyes and good for her ego.<\/p>\n

WHY?: I’ve adored the author’s other books. I especially liked Tara from the first book in the series and I’m curious about Seth. Plus I’m slowly realizing that I like these time limit romances, though I’m not sure that’s really a trope.<\/strong><\/p>\n

WHY?: I stumbled upon the\u00a0first book in this series and was hooked. It’s YA scifi Swiss Family Robinson (with DINOSAURS) and delightfully fun. I can’t wait to find out how this ends!<\/strong><\/p>\n

What We May Be – Layla Reyne<\/strong><\/a> (August 16)<\/h4>\n

WHY?: The author writes some pretty fun romantic suspense, but never one with a thruple before, so I’m very curious!<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Dating Playbook – Farrah Rochon<\/strong><\/a> (August 17)<\/h4>\n

\"The<\/p>\n

When a personal trainer agrees to fake date her client, all rules are out the window in this delightful romantic comedy from the USA Today bestselling author of The Boyfriend Project!<\/p>\n

WHY?: The first book in the series was a bit hit-or-miss for me, but I loved the author’s writing style and it was hilariously funny.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Requiem of Silence – L. Penelope<\/strong><\/a> (August 17)<\/h4>\n

Bad Witch Burning – Jessica Lewis<\/strong><\/a> (August 24)<\/h4>\n

For fans of Us<\/i> and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina<\/i> comes a witchy story full of black girl magic as one girl\u2019s dark ability to summon the dead offers her a chance at a new life, while revealing to her an even darker future.<\/b><\/p>\n

Katrell doesn\u2019t mind talking to the dead; she just wishes it made more money. Clients pay her to talk to their deceased loved ones, but it isn\u2019t enough to support her unemployed mother and Mom\u2019s deadbeat boyfriend-of-the-week. Things get worse, when a ghost warns her to stop the summonings or she\u2019ll \u201cburn everything down.\u201d Katrell is willing to call them on their bluff, though. She has no choice. What do ghosts know about eating peanut butter for dinner?<\/p>\n

April French doesn’t do relationships and she never asks for more.<\/p>\n

A long-standing regular at kink club Frankie’s, she’s kind of seen it all. As a trans woman, she\u2019s used to being the scenic rest stop for others on their way to a happily-ever-after. She knows how desire works, and she keeps hers carefully boxed up to take out on weekends only.<\/p>\n

After all, you can’t be let down if you never ask.<\/p>\n

Then Dennis Martin walks into Frankie’s, fresh from Seattle and looking a little lost. April just meant to be friendly, but one flirtatious drink turns into one hot night.<\/p>\n

The Devil You Know – Kit Rocha<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(August 31)<\/h4>\n

\"The<\/p>\n

The Mercenary Librarians and the Silver Devils are back in The Devil You Know<\/i>, the next installment of USA Today <\/i>and New York Times <\/i>bestselling author Kit Rocha\u2019s post-apocalyptic Action\/Romance, with hints of Orphan Black<\/i> and the Avengers<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Maya has had a price on her head from the day she escaped the TechCorps. Genetically engineered for genius and trained for revolution, there\u2019s only one thing she can\u2019t do\u2014forget.<\/p>\n
