The monthly ones are a bear to put together so maybe a smaller chunk will be just as helpful? The cover&#8217;s pretty darn cute (that pug!) but I&#8217;m finding the book itself a lot less cute than I expected. The &#8220;mystery&#8221; of who the reclusive author is isn&#8217;t really a mystery and the second-chance part of the romance isn&#8217;t&#8230; very romance-y. They haven&#8217;t had the big hash-out conversation about why their big breakup happened, despite it being glaringly obvious that they&#8217;re both still in love with each other. Going to try to finish this one up tonight so I can move on to my next batch of ARCs.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8933 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.llamareadsbooks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/52007089._SX318_SY475_.jpg?resize=198%2C300\" alt=\"Nepenthe\" width=\"198\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.llamareadsbooks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/52007089._SX318_SY475_.jpg?resize=198%2C300&amp;ssl=1 198w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.llamareadsbooks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/52007089._SX318_SY475_.jpg?w=313&amp;ssl=1 313w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 198px) 100vw, 198px\" \/>Recently finished: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/52007089-nepenthe\">Nepenthe &#8211; Octavia Hyde<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A tentacle alien space fantasy,&#8221; indeed. I have no idea what to say other than it was on Kindle Unlimited and I was absolutely entranced by the review that both asserted that it was the best science fiction that person had ever read and that it was alien tentacle erotica. K. It&#8217;s three connected stories about, um, mind-reading tentacle aliens rescuing a bunch of human colonists who have somehow survived a plague, but in exchange they want them to carry their eggs. That&#8217;s it, that&#8217;s the plot, everything else is tentacles, with a side of dubcon and breeding kink. So, that was I thing I read.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8934 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.llamareadsbooks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/58950674._SY475_.jpg?resize=195%2C300\" alt=\"Eyes of the Void\" width=\"195\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.llamareadsbooks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/58950674._SY475_.jpg?resize=195%2C300&amp;ssl=1 195w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.llamareadsbooks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/58950674._SY475_.jpg?w=308&amp;ssl=1 308w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 195px) 100vw, 195px\" \/>Up next: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/58950674-eyes-of-the-void\">Eyes of the Void &#8211; Adrian Tchaikovsky<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The second book in the Final Architecture trilogy. I adored <em>Shards of Earth\u00a0<\/em>(though apparently never reviewed it &#8211; need to fix that!) and I&#8217;m very much looking forward to seeing where this ridiculously original space opera goes. At the same time, I loved Idris in the first book and I&#8217;m very scared to see what awful things the author is going to put him through! Also, why, Architects, whyyyy?<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>That&#8217;s my snapshot of my current reading!
