MOST ANTICIPATED
Most Anticipated 2023
Here’s a running list of my most anticipated books for the year!
I update this as I find new books I’m interested in with the book title, release date, blurb and a note with what caught my eye.
The * marks items I’ve received ARCs for.
January
The Stolen Heir – Holly Black (January 3)
Unseelie – Ivelisse Housman (January 3) *
I loved The Folk of the Air trilogy (despite being unable to stand most of the characters most of the time) so of course I want to read this one! Not sure about the cover, but hey, I’m curious about Suren!
That gorgeous cover caught my eye, and once I read the blurb? You had me at autistic changeling! With an autistic author!
Fall Back Into Me – Lauren Connolly (January 10)
Hell Bent – Leigh Bardugo (January 10)
I love second chance romances and I love Lauren Connolly’s books so I’m pretty sure this is going to be a home run for me!
It took me three attempts to read Ninth House, but once I finally got into it? Oof, what a ride! I totally ship Alex and Darlington, but this time I’m looking forward to seeing Alex and Dawes working together!
Good Girl Fail – Roni Loren (January 17)
How to Sell a Haunted House – Grady Hendrix (January 17)
This isn’t my usual cup of tea, but I’ve loved the author’s past contemporary romances, so I figure I’ll give this a try!
I have a thing for haunted house stories, and this story involving estranged siblings trying to sell their dead parents’ house? Yeah, that ticks a lot of my horror boxes.
Mysteries of Thorn Manor – Margaret Rogerson (January 17)
Georgie, All Along – Kate Clayborn * (January 24)
I don’t care that it’s a novella, I’m just so, so happy to see more Elisabeth, Nathaniel and Silas! I adored Sorcery of Thorns when I first read it and I can’t wait to revisit everything!
Grouchy main character? Fulfilling a teen bucket list? This sounds like this is going to rip my heart out and I’ll love it because it’s Kate Clayborn.
The Minuscule Mansion of Myra Malone – Audrey Burges (January 24)
I was a huge fan of dollhouses when I was a kid (and books about dollhouses) so this sounds like exactly my kind of wacky. I’m a little worried about this hitting more litfic notes than women’s fit or romance, but I’m curious enough to give it a try.
February
Wild Massive – Scotto Moore (February 7)
Wildblood – Lauren Blackwood (February 7) *
Dystopian theme parks? Hell yes!
Forced proximity in a magical deadly jungle? Mmmhmm, that’s another yes.
The
Wolf and the Wallflower – Devin Harnois (February 22)
Gay. Bridgerton. With wolves. If that doesn’t sell you I don’t know what else to say.
March
The Faithless – C.L. Clark (March 7) *
The Foxglove King – Hannah Whitten (March 7)
Yeah, hi, I have FEELINGS about that cover. I liked The Unbroken and the impossible and fraught relationship between Luca and Touraine and I can’t wait to see more of them.
Warrior monks and forbidden romance? Sounds like a good time!
The Portrait of a Duchess – Scarlett Peckham (March 7) *
Murder mystery + sapphic romance? How could I say no to that? Plus that cover is amazingly eye-catching!
The first book in this series was great and I can’t wait to see what the author does with a second chance, already married romance!
Something Wild and Wonderful – Anita Kelly (March 7) *
A Witch’s Guide to Fake Dating a Demon – Sarah Hawley (March 7) *
Long story short – I’ve already read this book and it’s absolutely as spectacular as Love & Other Disasters!
That cover is adorable! I love the fake dating trope and the thought of a witch ending up with a demon instead of flour is hilarious!
Hotel of Secrets – Diana Biller (March 28) *
A House with Good Bones – T. Kingfisher (March 28)
I love space horror, so a space horror graphic novel is right up my alley!
I’ve loved everything I’ve read by T. Kingfisher and I can’t wait to see what happens with a creepy house and a mom and daughter.
The Kármán Line – Dennis Hopeless, Piotr Kowalski (March 14) *
A Door in the Dark – Scott Reintgen (March 28) *
I love space horror, so a space horror graphic novel is right up my alley!
It’s a survival adventure – with wizards! And the scholarship kid with the rich kid – do I smell a bit of enemies to lovers??
April
The Scourge Between the Stars – Ness Brown (April 4) *
Some Desperate Glory – Emily Tesh (April 11)
More space horror! And this time with a bunch of already stressed out folks. Is it a crew member? Or something else? (I think the cover is hinting that it’s something else!)
Queer space opera and found family! ALL THE YES!
Untethered Sky – Fonda Lee (April 11)
The Blood Gift – N.E. Davenport (April 18)
Dragonriders of Pern was a formative series for me and who hasn’t wanted to have an awesome animal companion? Except this sounds like Ester is all REVENGE and her companion isn’t exactly fluffy cuddly material.
I adored the first book in the series and can’t wait to see what happens in the conclusion! I loved how Ikenna formed a found family with her squad and can’t wait to see whether she picks them or revenge.
