Content warnings: I thought the cover of this book was adorable, so naturally I requested an ARC of it – look, I’m a little shallow, ok? I’m glad I did, because this is a feel-good holiday story, the sibling’s-best-friend-trope equivalent of a cup of hot cocoa. Despite last minute work for landing a client that’ll finally get him to make partner at his NYC law firm, Max gets guilt-tripped into visiting his recently divorced best friend, Hal, and his daughters for Christmas in the small town they grew up in. He only intends to stay for a day or so,Read the Post
Review: Wrong Bed, Right Girl – Rebecca Brooks
I loved the first book in this series, and was so excited to read this one. Unfortunately, it wasn’t what I was expecting. Talia was in the last book – she’s the heroine’s roommate and BFF and the hero’s sister. At the start of this book, she’s just sublet the apartment of a ballerina friend who’s had to leave suddenly due to a family emergency. Only, it turns out it’s not a family emergency but rather that she’s on the run due to a drug lord… and the cop who was working with her decides to check on her lateRead the Post
Review: Wrong Bed, Right Roommate – Rebecca Brooks
What a cute cover! This is a yummy combination of the best friend’s brother and forced proximity tropes, along with the collision of a Peter Pan fuckboy and a control freak, post-it-loving over-achevier. When Jessie’s BFF and roommate Talia goes to London for the summer, finding someone else to sublet their apartment in Brooklyn proves to be stressful, especially since Jessie is starting her new job as an assistant editor at a prestigious fantasy publisher soon. Luckily, Talia’s brother, Shawn, has just transferred to the Brooklyn branch of the brewery he works for, and he needs someplace to stay. Perfect,Read the Post
Review: Playing Dirty – Amy Andrews
Trigger warnings: I’ve been following Ms. Andrews’ Sydney Smoke series since the second book, and I’ve been waiting for the resolution of the troubled relationship between Griff, the rugby team’s gruff and unemotional coach, and his daughter, Val. So, yes, while this is also the story of Val’s HEA with new-to-the-team Kyle, a pretty large part of the story is about Val and Griff repairing their relationship. “The sudden thought that her father would not be impressed by this fraternisation with one of his players made it feel even better. Defiant. Illicit.” Val is drinking away her 24th birthday whenRead the Post
Review: Playing House – Amy Andrews
Trigger warning: Oh my goodness, this was adorable. I’ll admit that I was a bit worried about the whole virgin and pregnancy thing, just because I’ve been burned by some of those in the past, but I was pleasantly surprised. This is also has the “best friend’s little sister” trope, so while this could’ve devoted into trope stew, they actually complimented each other well. While this is the fifth book in the Sydney Smoke Rugby series, each book can be read as a stand-alone, though, seriously, if you haven’t picked up the others yet, what are you waiting for??? “SheRead the Post
Review: Playing By Her Rules – Amy Andrews
Adorable slow-burn second-chance romance. This is the first book in the Sydney Smoke Rugby series, and the team name is very apt – these books are HOT! I’m rereading this in preparation for reviewing the fifth book in the series, and I liked it just as much the second time around! “Tanner freaking Stone. A close-up of him shirtless, bending and stretching, his perfect, tight ass in the air, almost made her forget there were pearls in places they had no right to be. And the fact he was a lying, cheating scumbag who’d stomped on her heart, turned herRead the Post
