Down the TBR Hole #4 – January 25, 2018

Down the TBR hole

It’s time for another week of the Down the TBR Hole challenge from Lost in a Story.

Here’s the basics:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

What fun things will we find this week?

The Books

Superheroes Anonymous

Superheroes Anonymous – Lexie Dunne

This reminds me a bit of The Refrigerator Monologues, and since I already own that book, I think I’ll take this one off my TBR list for now.

Verdict: GO

Red Winter

Red Winter – Annette Marie

That cover is gorgeous, and it has some pretty great reviews, so I think I’ll keep this one on the list.

Verdict: KEEP

Song of the Current

Song of the Current – Sarah Tolcser

YA pirate fantasy.  Nuff said.

Verdict: KEEP

Hearthstone

Heartstone – Elle Katharine White

Pride & Prejudice with dragons?  I’m a sucker for any P&P retelling.

Verdict: KEEP

Want

Want – Cindy Pon

I’ve heard really great things about this one, though the reviews on Goodreads seem to be divided.

Verdict: KEEP

Warcross

Warcross – Marie Lu

I’ve heard this described as a YA Ready Player One, without the misogyny.  Keeping!

Verdict: KEEP

All in Pieces

All in Pieces – Suzanne Young

This sounds super interesting, and I completely forgot it was on my list.  Hmm, may need to bump this one up!

Verdict: KEEP

The Falconer

The Falconer – Elizabeth May

Eh, the blurb isn’t that interesting to me – definitely shades of “I’m so special!!!”.

Verdict: GO

A Darker Shade of Magic

A Darker Shade of Magic – V. E. Schwab

I tried reading this a while ago, but had to put it down because I just wasn’t feeling it at the time.  It was interesting, though, so I think I’d like to read it later.

Verdict: KEEP

Six of Crows

Six of Crows – Leigh Bardugo

I’ve heard amazing things about this one, too.  So, it’s staying!

Verdict: KEEP
