Down the TBR Hole #5 – February 1, 2018

Down the TBR hole

It’s time for another week of the Down the TBR Hole challenge from Lost in a Story.

Here’s the basics:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

What fun things will we find this week?

The Books

The Flame in the Mist

The Flame in the Mist – Renée Ahdieh

I’m a sucker for diverse YA, especially diverse fantasy YA.  I’ve heard pretty good things about this book set in feudal Japan, so I’ll keep it on the list.

Verdict: KEEP

Jackaby

Jackaby – William Ritter

YA historical thriller with a gorgeous cover?  Easy decision!  (Yes, I judge books by their covers.  Don’t even pretend you don’t!)

Verdict: KEEP

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda – Becky Albertalli

OK, technically, I’ve already read this, but it was pre-Goodreads, so I’m planning on going back and re-reading it so I can write a proper review of it.  I liked it, soooooo….

Verdict: KEEP

The Scorpio Races

The Scorpio Races – Maggie Stiefvater

I think I’ve read something by Ms. Stiefvater before and liked it, but reading the blurb for this… I’m not really into horses, and it sounds like your average YA fantasy.  Meh.

Verdict: GO

Angelfall

Angelfall – Susan Ee

I have absolutely no idea why I added this to my TBR, but I have a thing for angel books and it’s partly set in San Francisco, so, why not?

Verdict: KEEP

Summary

Total Books Sorted: 45

Books kept: 35 (%)

Books tossed: 10 (%)

Only 5 books sorted this week, as it’s been a busy one and I was having problems making decisions.

What do you think of my decisions?
