Review: Through a Valley of White Mist – Anela Deen

Forgotten Magic

After that cliffhanger of an ending for the last novella, I was very anxious to find out what happened with Simith and Jessa. Thankfully, this is the last novella in the series, and it definitely delivers! “The grief you suffered and this peace you engineered absolves you of nothing.” Jessa and Smith have led the trolls to the pixies’ home, but peace between the two races is still uneasy, not to mention that the pixies don’t trust Simith, not even his own family. Hidden Magic

content warnings: This is the first in a three-part novella series that will be published in the Hidden Magic anthologies. I grew up reading early-90s portal fantasies – where someone from the real world ends up in a magical land, or vice versa – so I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for them, and the novella definitely hit all the high notes of that subgenre. Simith, a pixie knight, has known war for so long that he’s not sure he can remember anything else. But he knows the only hope for peace is to negotiate with the trollsRead the Post
