Monthly Wrap-up: December 2018

monthly wrap-up

It’s that time of year!  I ended December out with a bang, finishing 5518 pages over 21 books.  My Goodreads challenge is also officially complete (and CRUSHED), having finished the year with 338 books read – 155% over my challenge goal of 218.  I’m still trying to figure out what to set as my goal this year, but I think I’m going to go with either 300 or 350.

While 2018 sucked in many ways, I feel blessed to have read so many great books this year, and hopefully I’ll have the time to do a wrap-up post for the year soon.  Best wishes for the new year!

Finally, here’s a quick break-down of the 11 books I reviewed in December, broken down by rating!

FOUR LLAMAS

An Unexpected ChristmasA Wedding One ChristmasBetween the LinesDance All NightTempting Fate

  • An Unexpected Christmas by Shannon Richard. Cute novel chock-full of holiday cheer.  Felt like a sexy Hallmark movie! (December 4)
  • A Wedding One Christmas by Therese Beharrie. Sweet, hilarious and unexpectedly deep. (December 6)
  • Between the Lines by Sally Malcom. Beautiful, angsty, absolutely lived up to my expectations for the second book in this series. (December 10)
  • Dance All Night by Alexis Daria. Wickedly fun and adorable novella. Perfect for both Christmas and New Year’s. (December 11)
  • Tempting Fate by Stacy Finz. Unlikeable heroine makes good. My first venture into this series, but not my last. (December 12)

Surface TensionKingdom of Needle and Bone

  • Surface Tension by Valentine Wheeler. Sweet reimagining of the Little Mermaid, with a lesbian scientist mermaid! What’s not to like? (December 17)
  • Kingdom of Needle and Bone – Mira Grant. Disturbingly possible horror/scifi, with a TWIST! (December 28)

THREE LLAMAS

In Love with Alien Santa ClausThe Season to SinTangledCraving Jamie

  • In Love with Alien Santa Claus by Zara Zenia. “Oh my jingles!” Nuff said. (December 12)
  • The Season to Sin by Clare Connelly. Steamy and fun, but missed the mark for me. (December 15)
  • Tangled by Emma Chase. Hilarious banter, but too much groveling, even with the alpha hole behavior. (December 16)
  • Craving Jamie by Keiko Okamoto and Emma Darcy. Loved the manga format, but the story was a bit dated. (December 18)
